I have mine pointed towards each other and at the front glass kinda upwards. You don't want them to blow your sandbed and the surface agitation is good to have.

Point the ph straight up in the tank, about 3 inchs below waterline...itll launchthe fishh for aerial shows

Loving them.... Tang and foxface are always together. Blenny has taken over the clowns rock, and the hawk just stares me down... Lol
