Ok I was gonna say perhaps they died from being stressed during acclimation but if they been in your tank for weeks,I'd doubt it. I'm not 100% sure, you could examine the damsel real close to see if there's any markings or anything
 
Damsels are a pretty hardy fish as far as living through high parameters, which is why a lot of stores sell them first to cycle your tank. Clowns are also a type of damsel but arent quite as hardy still up there though, but damsels are kind of aggresive so you have to be careful. Torn fins might lead you to a cause of death...
