The 1.5 - 2 lbs is a great starting point. my rock is VERY pourous and if I put 75 lbs in my 55 there would be hardly any room for fish. Think of it as surface area. If your rocks are mostly air then you don't need as much weight. the 60 lbs I have in my tank cover most of the back wall and come about three quarters of the way up the tank.

That comment was made about a year ago.... But I hear ya. I only have about 58Lbs of LR in my system now I have up graded to a 72 Gallon Bow Front.
