The tank is currently on the 22nd day of the cycle.

Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 40/80ppm

I last dosed 2ppm Ammonia 30 hours ago.

So, what next?

I'm assuming PWC's of around 25%?

I would dose ammonia to 2ppm and check it in 24 not 30 hrs. If ammonia and nitrite is zero you are cycled. Do a 50 % wc and add fish.

I don't want Nitrates to rocket up again.

I tested Amm and Rites at 12 hours and they were both at 0.25.

I'm very sure they bottomed out WAY before 30 hours.

You are cycled, your nitrate won't bother a fish. Don't over stock. Just get a fish that won't beat up any other future fish (don't get a chromis) keep testing, relax.

I'm just gonna do a small-ish water change.

Then go and get my first fish tomorrow.

Just did a 20% PWC.

I'll test nitrates in a few hours and we'll see what's what.

Ok... So nitrates are at a solid 40ppm.

I took out the HoB which has managed to accumulate some sort of pinkish slime stuff.

I washed that out and stuck it back on.

I'll test again tomorrow before picking up the fish.

Do a couple 50% changes and get your nitrates below 10ppm (3 or 4 to get you to 2-5ppm would be better since you want a reef) now while there's no livestock and it's easier.

As in daily w/c's?
Or multiple in one day?

If there's no live stock, you could do them all in 1 day (you could even change all the water if you want), but if there's livestock space them out
