tap water never good to use as top off.

I had the same problem for months with nitrates always hovering around 20-30 ppm. I constantly cleaned filters, used nitrate sponge, Purigen and carbon and 10% weekly WC.
Finally I added a HOB refugium in the spot where a bio-wheel 30 was sitting. Added LR rubble, LS some cheato and 7 mangroves. Within 2 weeks my nitrates are around 5. Fully believe in macro/mangrove for nutrient export. |

Im thinking of doing the same thing bolster. Been looking on ebay for a HOB refugium since a sump is out of the question right now. I did a water change this week and have cut back on the feedings. Nitrate has dropped some but im still not close to what I need to be.
