Nitrite level

I have a 60 gallon saltwater tank, I recently pulled up my old under gravel filter and stirred up some stuff about a week ago. About two days ago I did a 25% wc. Today I tested my nitrite level. It was around 1-2. What should I do to lower these?

Water changes

Sounds like you mixed up some gunky stuff, perhaps decaying stuff. Good choice on yanking the UGF. Water changes will help bring your levels down. Have you tested for ammonia and nitrates as well?

If no stock in the tank then there is nothing to due. If you do have stock then another pwc with properly mixed SW is needed again. Since you should mix your SW overnight I'd add a teaspoon of SeaChem Prime to detoxify the nh3/no2 till you can do the pwc.
