Nitrite/Nitrate questions

Hello. Thanks to the wonderful people on this forum, I now know the difference between "free" and "total" ammonia. My question is, is there such a thing as free and total nitrite and nitrate as well? Does using products (like Prime) make nitrites and nitrates non-toxic, or do the products just eliminate them completely? In other words, will these products create a false positive on tests like ammonia detoxifying products do?

Uh...I don't know. I should, but I don't. I'll bump the post back to the top in the hope that someone who does will answer though. If not, I'll try to look it up for you. I'll look it up anyway because I should know .
