NO Cyano anymore

A little history lesson first. I had a mild case of a cyano presence in my tank, tried the cures that I read on here; vacuum & less food, with limited success. I was going on a 2 week vacation so I asked my neighbour to watch my water level and left him 2 servings of tank food. I shut off the MH lights and skimmer but left the actinics on the 12 hr timer. Low and behold on my return there was no more cyano.
Coincidence?
I hope that does it I will give it a few days and see what transpires.

my first thought is that there just simply wasn't enough light for the cyano to photosynthasize so it flaked off (hope you didn't have any corals or clams) I would imagine if your lights are back on to your normal schedule you'll see a return of the cyano.

I hope not! if all it takes is turning off the lights for a while... that'd be... well... easy )

Well it is now Wednesday night and no sign of that red cyano anywhere. The skimmer has been up since Sunday and the tanks looks great. We will see.
