Noob with questions

Hi, I'm looking into starting my first saltwater tank. Now im not that much of an experienced "fish guy" only some gold fish that I had for about 8 years. Now ive always been obsessed with Puffer Fish, but im thinking would they be way to difficult for a saltwater noob like me to have? Cause they are cool. But I wouldn't get one just yet if it would be too much trouble.

Welcome to AA

My Stock list and tips for maintaining your SW tank post can get you started on the basics of keeping SW fish.

A single puffer is doable depending on the type and tank size. What did you have in mind?

Well im not exactly sure just yet, its just more things that I'm thinking about, I want a fairly hardy puffer, and a setup that will not be too difficult. (If you can get anything out of that.)

Most puffers if kept individually are hardy once properly acclimated to a cycled tank. Checkout www.liveaquaria.com for puffer selection and tank sizes needed to house them.

Also keep in mind that you will need quality filtration ($$$ skimmer) and 1.5+ lbs of live rock per gal since puffers get large and are messy eaters.

www.wetwebmedia.com and www.advancedaquarist.com are excellent to read also for puffer care and needs.

Thanks a lot! I'm thinking of a Spiny Box Puffer in about a 80 gal tank?

Sound's good and 80 gal is fine. Read the other links thoroughly and plan for around $1000+ for tank/skimmer/live rock.

Read up on the articles on this site (fish less cycle) and ask lots of questions before acting.

Tutorial: How to make your own fish food post should come in handy as well.
