my tanks 6 weeks old i do water changes weekly my 2 fish look great but there seems to be an oily film on the surface of the water.is this normal.?and if not how do i stop it

Yep, point a ph more to the top and get more agitation.

I agree with surface aggitation. Also lay a paper towel on top of it and quickly take it out and it will take most of it out. It`s called a protien sheen.

Also had the same problem when my tank was new and more surface aggitation took it away
