Ok how many pounds of LR would be good for a 500 gallon?

I just got a call from one of my good friends that got me into this hobby and he is gunna give me his old 500 gallon tank cause he upgraded to a larger one but I only have about 100 pounds of LR in my old tank that I can switch over how much more should I need?

I always recommend at least one pound per gallon with 1.5 to 2 lbs per gallon as optimal. It does not have to be all live rock. As a matter of fact your 100 lbs is enough to seed it if you wanted to get all BR for the rest of your rock.

Ok good to kno cause BR is alot cheaper than LR so I might take that route thanks
