i was planning on getting 65lbs of uncured LR. the place that sells it only sells them in 44lb boxes. that leaves me with the option of having 2 44lb boxes or buy a 44lb box of uncured and get 21lbs cured. this is for a 65g 36x18x24 uncycled tank so i'm unsure of how the LR would look in the tank. any advice?

65gallons? get two 44lbs boxes. 88lbs would be a good amount of LR in a 65 gallon.
I tried to do 1 lb per gallon, and it was obviously not enough. added 10lbs...still not enuf. another 15lbs 'should' do the trick.

Use all uncured since you're cycling your tank with lr anyway. No need to mix, uncured has more life in it and I think the uncured would mess with the cured lr bacteria causing it to cycle anyway.
