Either way with a mh fixture you can grow whatever you want with out ever having to add on or buy another fixture. I personally am very indecisive as to what I ever want to do with my tank so I made sure I was limiting myself as far as lighting. Just something to think about
I see what you mean about not knowing and not limiting yourself. I think that unit has the 2 MH and two blue t-5's. I'm bookmarking the link so I can keep comparing. Thanks again for all your advice!

Yes. I had the halide lights on a 55g. I the coral hated it. Unless they were on the sandbed. The did good when they were on the 75g though. But the growth exploded when I used the 6 bulb t5s.

What kind of corals do you have? I have mostly lps and some mushrooms. The mushrooms are fine because they are low in the tank but I have aussie duncans half way up and an acan that is half way up that love it. I also have a candycane that is near the bottom and it is too low I have to move it up

Could I do the 4 t-5's and then later on when I get corals with higher light needs could I get a 24 inch MH and just use it on one half of the aquarium?

The aquarium will be 48 inches long.

You could just save up and get the right light first.

I've had the odyssea fixtures and while they did the job the price was reflected int he actual quality of the light. How about a fish need it;lights; food;Sponge 4 lamp fixture? Much better build than the aquatraders one, I have both. lol

I have a mix of many different saltwater fish amongst my tanks, but I love my Tangs most of all.

I have the Odyssea 24" Adv. plus metal halide + 4t5ho, and I bought a used icecap ballast for $80 and sold the odyssea ballast for $50, and added a Phoenix MH bulb. I couldnt be happier, and I feel like I've got a pretty good quality light for not much money and it was easier to afford because I put money into it over time, like bought the light then 2 weeks later bought better ballast and sold the odyssea, then bought the phoenix bulb. So spreading the purchases out a little bit helped me.
My next light purchases will be new T5HO bulbs b/c the odyssea bulbs are not the greatest but are definatly good enough to keep your tank growing and looking good until you can upgrade.
