6/26 175g tank filled w/tap water, 48 hrs ran with phosguard, activated carbon

6/28 Salt added--

6/29 SG 1.021 Temp 79 120# LR added (foul smelling--had dieoff due to delay in moving to circulating heated tank)

6/30 SG 1.022 Temp 79 Ammonia 0.4 Nitrite .5 Nitrate 20 Alk 300
PH 8.0-8.2

7/3 SG 1.022+ Temp 80 Ammonia 0.2 Nitrite .5 Nitrate 40 Alk 300
PH 8.0-8.2

7/5 SG 1.024 Temp 80 Ammonia ??? Nitrite 0 Nitrate 30 Alk 300
PH 8.4

7/6 SG 1.024 Temp 80 Ammonia 0.0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 20 Alk ???
PH 8.4 Phosphates 0

(7/6 results tested by myself and LFS--results agreed)

175g tank w/60g sump, 2*1200 gph pumps, very large euro skimmer, Skimmer mucked out a little bit but not much, LR stopped smelling after 2 days, water is crystal, phosguard and carbon been running whole time.

Outside of the remaining nitrates, it appears to me this tank cycled in 9-10 days--Is this possible?

Diatom is starting to kick in on the rock--no lighting has been running yet, just sits by window.

Let me know your thoughts--

Thanks again

Jeff

I See your SG is climbing. Have you been replacing the evaporation?

No ammonia and no nitrite are clear signs the inital cycle is complete. Of course only 120lbs of rock in a 175gal tank is below the recommended 1-1.5lb per gal so I wouldnt count on the rock as your only source of filtration at this point.

SG was rising as I was adding additional salt over a few days. I didn't want to overshoot the SG. There is an additional 150# of LR pristine and fully cured going into the tank from my old tank. For a total of about 275# I'll get the water change done this week and look forward to a fun Saturday project of moving everything over.

Yeehah!!!
