Received this Friday from an established tank (8 yrs), along with live rock...lots of coraline, a mini-frag of hammerhead sps, small amount of substrate, hitchhikers, e.g. spaghetti worms (no clue what else), mushrooms, and the algae in my refugium...,along with that unidentified red 'growth'.

Can you help me identified the algae & red 'growth'? Thanks! :)

Have a positive ID on the red grape algae.

But the caulerpa? Anyone on the type... assuming it a caulerpa?

First, thank you! :) Love your resources, as usual Larry.

 My surprise is that I seem to be learning everything the hard way... lol

Caulerpa is not necessarily what I want... the leaves are being spread throughout the water column getting from the refugium to everywhere. :( Cannot figure how to stop it...someone suggested gutter guard, but I've not had a chance to see if it will be effective.

Now...I'm struggling to tell the difference between the mexicana and the taxifolia. The photo (2nd from bottom in your link), is it the same as this one: <head> <title>Macro Algae : Your Source For Quality Marine Plants and Macroalgae ??
