Pods in corner box - should I add some sand?

I have an AGA 125 that has two corner boxes. I noticed some small critters on the bottom. There is a small amount of sand there but not enough to cover the bottom.
Should I add some more?
How much?
Is one or two inches enough?
Will this be a mini 'fuge?

TIA,

Cmor

I am assuming you mean to add sand to the overflow boxes?? I wouldn't do this. I suppose it would work well enough, but there is too much of a chance (IMO) for some of the sand to end up in your sump and then in your pump, unless it is baffled for a fuge. The thing about a fuge...is there should be a way for the critters to get back in the tank, I'm not sure how easy that would be in the situation you pose.

Good point. There is no way way for them to get back to the tank. Should I siphon them out and put them back into the main tank?

Send a message via Yahoo to Hara
I would just let them live in there...mine are full of sponges and pods and a snail or two helping to keep the boxes clean.

I agree with Hara. From time to time as the population gets too big for the boxes, you could siphon some out and put them back in the main tank, but most likely more will end up back in the box.
