Anyone use in as your substrate?

If so what has the expierience been like?

i do not have it in my sw tanks. but i know of several members on here that do. it works very well for them. and dont believe the hype about it being a silicate supply for algae. i have read time and time again "chemically, its the same as the glass of your aquarium. "

hope this helps.

Awesome thanks for the reply. Will save me a lot of money as Ill be needing about 150 pounds of it

Check with carey I know she has use it on one or more of her tanks. I know she can tell you if there are any cons to it.

Yep, I used 250lbs of it in my build. :)

I havent had any negative experience with it and saved a fortune as well.

Do you habe to clean it a little bit better then your average sand? Or no?

Yep, it will become "live" as time goes by and the ecosystem gets started. :)

Ok, i think this is all on topic! Why then, would people buy "live sand"? To start their ecosystem quicker?

If you mean live sand from a bag, I'm kinda dubious on it having anything "live" in the bag. otherwise people use other peoples sand when buying setups, I personally bought "live" sand from the same guy I bought my live rock from. :)
