Pros and Cons of running lights during cycle?

Are there any pros or cons about running lights during fishless cycle?

Lights off..... The prolific amount of nutrients in the water during the cycle, combined with the light, is a recipe for a huge algae bloom before even getting anything in the tank.

K thanks that's what I thought. Been a long time since I have done a cycle. How about running a skimmer? yes or no?

If your skimmer is new run it during the cycle to get it broken in. Personally I run everything but lighting during a cycle.

I ran my cycle in one week. I got live rocked that has been cured for 17 years from a friend and his tank seeded my live sand. I ran the protein skimmer to wear it in, to make sure its doing what it needs to. My lights were off during the whole cycle. My heater was in and on Set up a solid foundation, get that water moving. Once you establish that your golden. Below is my tank in a month. Few more dozen corals is my goal
