Protein skimmer?

I am starting just a 10g FOWLR I've heard that a protein skimmer isn't a absolutely needed but I don't know for sure if it is or if it isn't does anyone know?

For fish only it's not so much a must but is recommended so I'm told

For a nano you don't need one. Just keep up on your partial water changes, and don't over stock.

for a tank that small its not needed as long as your keeping up with normal PWCs and maintenance (which regardless you should be doing!)

i have a 14g half reef (because i dont have many corals) and i dont have a skimmer, i do 30% PWC every 2-3 weeks

definitely, put that money into a nice lighting fixture or some nice coral!
