I've been putting purple up in my 29 gallon tank now for about week and a half... starting to see some color change but it is not purple.. My tocks seeem to be turning an orange brownish color?...does anyone no anything about this? Maybe they turn that color first then purple?... any suggestions would be great

I assume you are testing for ca since purple up is mostly just a ca additive.

How are your levels? (ph/alk/sg/ca)

The orange brownish color is most likely brown algae (diatoms).

I'd stop dosing your tank with ca additive till you know what your level is. Too much ca will mess up your alk/ph.

I'd recommend that you not use the purple up. I used it when I was starting out and eager for quick fixes. Looking back, it probably did more harm than good. The reason purple up is worthless is that it doesn't do anything for your alkalinity.

The secret to good coralline growth is testing(not optional) and maintaining calcium AND alkalinity. I'd check out a balanced calcium and alkalinity supplement as well. This will add both items at the same rate they are consumed by corals and the coralline.

Then doing regular pwc weekly will keep your alk/ca where it's supposed to be and adding more will simply cause issues.
