Should I be keeping my fish in Quarantine for 2 or 4 weeks?

4 weeks seems like an awful long time! They don't really seem to like it in there - small tank, nothing in there, etc.

Would taking them out after 2 weeks (of eating fine etc.) be a bad idea?

The life cycle of some parasites may not show up for as long as 3 weeks. Keeping the fish in the QT for 4 ensures better success at not contaminating the main tank. A 2 week QT would be very risky.

Cheers

I had two Firefish in QT for two weeks, my ammonia started rising and I decided to put them in the big tank, they are fine, but I guess I was lucky....

That's what water changes are for

3 weeks have now passed - should I stick out for the full 4, or will 3 weeks be enough?
