QT tank bio filter

What about a 60 gallon hob filter with carbon? It says it eliminates ammonia...
 
I usually just use a sponge that i throw in my sump to keep a colony alive, and use as needed. Just get a filter that is rated 20 more gph than the tank size and use a sponge of some sorts, no need to get fancy with a qt. If you plan on using copper, I would throw out the sponge after qt, and throw a new one in the sump for use later.

Ok, but What about the hob... Will it work?
