Bleach is chlorine, is it not? Least that's what my pool peeps tell me. When I clean w/ bleach all I have ever done is rinse twice in Prime and back in the tank. No drying , no nothing...

Now I wonder if I've been lucky or what

There is a small % chlorine in bleach, roughly 6% sodium hypochlorite (end product using chlorine). Technically it is "chlorine," but I have used various aquarium dechlors. and notice a tinge of bleach afterwards. Of course, this also depends on the concentration of bleach you are using to disinfect. You're better off with sts imo/ime.

sts = sodium thiosulphate. It is a crystalline compound that is odorless and used in various applications, but in regards to aquariums it does a wonderful job by neutralizing chlorine almost instantly by using very little of the actual product.

Yes, a basic hood is fine for the qt period. You shouldn't have to monitor coral for 30 days like you would fish anyways.

I do not bother qt'ing inverts although I do give them a quick rinse in clean sw before I add them. 14 days should be plenty of time to monitor coral should any problems arise. Some corals, especially sps, may not approve of low lighting for long...you'll have to play sps by ear.
