I have a 40 gallon breeder that I'm working on stocking. Right now the tank is empty and finishing up its cycle. I have a 5 gallon and a 20 high laying around that I'm debating on using for my quarantine tank. Knowing that I only have a 40 gallon tank, the fish i'm able to put in are not very big. Do you think I could get away with using the 5 gallon instead of the 20?

short answer No you'd be better off using the 20 as a QT tank the larger water volume will help as well as the extra room drop a piece of pvc in there for cover a HOB filter and heater are all you'll need
