Quarntine filter

Im starting up a quarantine tank but want to use a hang on filter but i heard you shouldnt use carbon filter pads can i just take out the carbon or should i just put a sponge in there?

Carbon is unnecessary but you can use it, unless you plan to use meds in the tank. Do you have any used media to seed the tank? A sponge will also work, your choice.

Ya i have a little hang on the back filer in my refugium that im probably going to use in the quarantine tank that has a sponge in it will that work?
