Hi all,
I would like some advice about drilling a 40b for a sump reef setup. best location? bottom corners? bottom center? back glass near top center? or corners?
also what size pvc?
Thank You,

Your tank layout helps determine sides or back.
Outflow/returns on the back get them out of sight if you can see your sides.
On the sides gives more depth room if you are limited in depth.
Or you can put the holes in the bottom and use stand pipes inside to bring them to the top and surround the pipes with Rock setup.
Do you have any space restrictions?

Side / back holes should be towards the top so your whole tank doesn't drain in the event your return pump stops.

All in the planing stage sofar I have 40b tank to be drilled,20Long for sump, PSK 100 proteen skimer and will buld the stand to fit it all. How much water should flow through the sump? Is 600 gph too much or too little? 1 inch pvc ok for 600gph?
