What is better in a refugium mud or sand?

It really dose not matter they do the same thing. personally I would go with a dsb. And if you want you could add the mud on top of the sand if you want to grow mangrove or macro algae that requires to be planted

i would use just sand. mangroves are inefficient as nutrient exporters, so if you are wanting to do this, expect it to be little more than a conversation piece.
i agree with tom. the refugium is a good place for a DSB. 4" or more of sand is all you need.

Yes it's for a sump! I've never did a sump tank before. I'm trying to figure
All of this out. Thanks for the help!!!

I too would just go with sand. I have miracle mud with sand over top of it and I dont see where I accomplished anything by using it.

Sand as well, have used MM didn't find it helped much, also you need a slow flow through the fuge with MM unless you have sand on top,Agree with doug on the mangroves as you'll need an awful lot of them to make any difference.

Thanks for all the feedback I need all the advice I can get
