Refugium?

Thoughts on a mini refugium, I have a media basket and can dedicate the middle section to it. Will this section make any impact or be a waste? Picture below shows my basket

Small fuges don't really do much IMO. Though for nano setups I have read about others doing it, so it might be of benefit. Maybe some nano-ites will chime in with experience.

Ok thanks, I'm running chemi-pure in the Bottum section and thought about running seachem purigen instead of the refugium. Any opinions on this?
