Report: Caribbean coral reefs down 80 percent

Just ran across this article on CNN website.
I found it interesting...

scary news... at least it sounds that way. They're not very clear on what they mean by, "Down 80%". Do they mean there are 80% fewer coral reefs out there? that sounds... well, frightening if true... darned near non-existent!
