What size is your DT and how much evap do you get daily?

Does it do a good job. They are only rated for up to 100 gallons

I'm setting up a new 150 so I'm not sure what its going to be like. My 55 I have to put about 3 gallons a week in it

I like the JBJ ATO. I've been using them for years on multiple systems without incident. I too, would make the return area as small as possible and use an ATO.

I have about a gallon a day evap rate in my 210 gallon tank and it does just fine replenishing that. been running it for a month or two but ive never really seen a bad review on the tunze unless its crying about the price lol

The 100 gallon rating is because in a 100 you have much more surface area so a 1" drop in a 100 vs a 55 will be a much larger amount of water therefore the pump with run longer to refill the tank. In a chamber that say 12" square like a return chamber, then its only replacing maybe a quart of water at a time when it turns on. It wont hurt the tunze to run on your 55 sump at all. It will work great my pump only runs about a minute at a time on my Tunze ATO
