hi

i was wondering if you can use river sand in a marine aquarium. i found a product here in japan that is made by the famous aquariast, Takashi Amano and its called bright sand. it says it has no additives and the grains have no effect on water condtions.

Yes, but just like regular silica sand it would have no buffering capacity for the water (aragonite sand dissolves and buffers marine PH, etc.). I would imagine, that being made for aquaria specifically, it would naturally carry a premium price. If you really like it, go for it...it will likely not have a detrimental effect.

look for some soutdown sand on ebay if you cannot find it at the local home depot it cost a lot more on ebay but ya good old supply and demand just have to love economics :D

i bought some a week ago and the guy had ten bags not sure if he has any left
hope that helps

sorry spell error its "southdown sand" or tropica sand or yard right just make sure its agaronite based and not silica and your good to go
