hi ;
my tank is up & running & established .
when i first started i bought some l.r. & base r. after months i took out some base r. & added more l.r.
the old base r. is in my basement ,dry .

ques. is - what should i do to introduce the old dry base r. back into my tank???
cure it ?? or just add it to tank ??

thanks for your advice -- oldfishead !!!

I think it depends on how much base you add at a time. If you put a chunk in and test, and don't see ammonia, that piece is good, with little to no die off. Or you could cure it in a plastic tub.

roka;
the base r. has been dry in my basement for months. isn't it like all dead now ???

thanks--oldfishead !!!

DOH! Sorry, it's still early. If it were me, I would add chunks at a time, but you are probably right, it is more than likely dead....

I believe you could go ahead and add it to your tank. In time it will become live.

I would add all the br. The sooner you get it in the tank the sooner it will grow bacteria and be live rock.
