Rocks from a stream

So has anyone ever taken a rock from a stream to put in their aquarium? I thought about walking a stream to look for rocks but I'm worried about picking up deseases on those rocks. But I also figured a stream has constant moving water so maybe that helps. Any thoughts, solutions?

from my understanding is that you can soak them in bleach and rinse them very well and they will be okay to use. NOW this was for a freshwater aquarium I do not know if they would be alright to use in saltwater.
