Is using RODI for starting a new tank (FOWLR for now) important, or just a waste of RODI media?

I have a RODI in a box, but I'm anxious to get my tank going.

I've got well water, with some iron in it for sure. not sure about phosphates or nitrates.

Water quality is the most important thing to any tank. FO not as much as reef but problem algae from bad tap water can ruin a FOWLR as much as a Reef. some people us tap water with no problems others add a few gallons and bam! Algae, all depends on your water. Take it some place and have it tested for $25-30 then you'll know if the ro/di is needed.
