Right now in my 10g nano I have about a 1" layer of sand and I'm thinking of putting a layer of coral on top. The reason for this is I'm planning on getting a watchman goby and pistol shrimp and the videos I have watched have the coral.

Will there be a problem doing this as far as filtration ( I have a cuc in there already, crab and snail)?

Just use sand. Crushed coral can be sharp for the goby and cut up the gills also it traps food. Just go with sand, also for a goby I would recommend a 3in sand bed.

Got it. Think I will go with the larger size sand though. I have the very fine sand now and my power head keeps it stirred up if I have it pointed at the rocks and if I angle it up, it pushes the sand out from the other side of the aquarium.
