Sand directly from the beach in So-Cal??

I don't think it would be a good idea because they could have pollutants because my water is horrible in CT but in Cali. it the water might be better. I wouldnt do it IMO

To the original poster....

My biggest issue is not pollution, although this could be a possibility, it is what your going to get that lives. I assume your going to go with a tropical reef tank, with temps around 80 degrees? Aren't the waters your in between 65-70? Too big a temp difference, you'll end up with nothing but sand.
