Despite having about 12x turnover via two MJ 1200 power heads, angled towards the surface, I still had a thin layer of scummy film on the water surface. Well, everywhere except right where the powerheads collided.

So yesterday I wedged an AC Mini/20 on the back between my skimmer and fuge. It doesn't fit the tank lip well, but today all that scum is gone, and my water isn't all mucked up, so I know it's getting cleaned out of there. The added surface agitation I think is allowing that stuff ot get broken down and either skimmed out, mechanically filtered by the AC, or is just breaking down into nitrate/phosphate.

Water change planned for today already. Too bad the filter doesn't fit well, and throws a lot of air bubbles into the tank. It'll have to be an occasional thing I run to clear up the water.
