Ok im a little cofused on the instruction for testing for ammonia. It gives me directions to test for free ammonia or total ammonia.Which one should i do?? Thanks Duane

You need to test the free ammonia only in a SW tank. NH4 is only a concern in environments kept at lower ph values. In a higher ph set up like a SW tank, only the free amoonia (NH3) will be harmful.
