So, I am scrounging around in the attic for old equipment.

I am the guy that had SW 25 years ago and am trying it again.

I found some stuff I can use, a couple of canister filters, a power head, tubing. All good stuff. Then I run across a container of salt.

Well, okay, this is enough for 100 gals, but it is 25 YEARS OLD for cripes sake.

Now you have to understand just how cheap I am. So I need to ask.

Do I toss it?

I wouldn't use it for the aquarium mind you. I know that todays mixes must be better that this stuff. But it did work quite well back then. I did manage to keep fish alive for as long as 10 years with it. But I was thinking. Can I use it for rinse/cleaning/flushing kind of things?

I know you guys are going to tell me to toss it, but....

I would mix it and test the water. Salt is/was used as a preseravtive. I would think, you might be better to use it for cleaning. If you mix it and there is a bunch of stuff in the bottom, I would toss it. You can get salt online, pretty cheap:

It's about $30 for 160LBS...not too bad...
I would get some other opinions before you do anything....
