Should I be using a skimmer

I'm starting a 55 gal SW for fish and some reef life. Right now all I have is two damsils and a couple of pieces of live rock (and dead rock). I'm using a mixture of sand and crushed coral for the bottom. I'm using a Fluval 305 (maybe 304, I forget).

My question is should I be using a skimmer as well?

I personally would use a skimmer. At least 55 lbs of LR and a skimmer with some PH`s to push the water around would be all the filtration you need.

Ya a skimmer is a must with 40g+

I agree with Mel, 1.5 pounds of good live rock per gallon and a few good PHs would be all you need. Well, healthy water changes as well every other week of 15% or more.
