Should I replace bioballs with LR if I need more room in my 75 for fish?

could I mix some bioballs with LR?

If you use LR instead of bioballs make sure the water level in your sump is such that they are totally submersed.

No such thing as too much biological filtration. The bacteria will grow to whatever level is necessary to process the waste (ammonia) in your tank. Once the bacteria population has reached the right level, it will stop growing due to limited food source.

There is such a thing as too much mechanical filtration if it creates too much current in your tank, but that should be pretty obvious.

actually, the problem with too much mechanical filtration is the fact that it filters out the parts the the LR and LS need to survive. if they don't get enough to feed on your LR and DSB will crash and you'll lose your natural filtration.
