Started a 10 gallon reef tank with a damsel, shrimp, and a few snails. Should I have an air pump with stone or is that not appropriate for saltwater setups? Thanks for any advice.

As mentioned earlier surface agitation is what increases and keeps stable oxygen in your tank. Much better job than air bubbles that cause very little surface agitation.

Thank you all for your info. I have removed the air pump and stone from the aquarium. I believe I have enough surface agitation from the filter return.

I would look into powerheads. I wouldn't want to run a system with less than 10x the water column when it comes to turn over. A single filter just won't cut it.

2 of the korillia 240s worked well when I had my 10g. Or look into 1 240 and one of the small jaebo controllable pumps for a more natural/random flow pattern
