how often do u need to clean the skimmer

every 3 weeks i clean the collection cup and neck of the skimmer body by
wiping the neck with a paper towel
and the collection cup gets a good warm water rinse
then wiped down with a paper towel
done it twice and it dosent affect the skimmer for more than 1-2 hrs
then produces foam again

i try to do it even more. i clean it out every two months

I clean my collection cup (Completely) every time I dump out the skimmate. I clean the skimmer unit about every 3 months. It depends on performance. If its starting to wane I go ahead and clean it. Works like new after that..

I clean the collection cup and throat thoroughly every day or two. PH gets cleaned monthly or whenever production drops. Body of skimmer gets cleaned every 6 months or so.
