what would be the best skimmer for a 35 gal fish only with liverock i have a about 35 lbs of rock and 40 lbs of sand and do i really need a skimmer i was leaning towards a sump tohide all the junk

Skimmers will keep your water very clean, removing the stuff that becomes nitrates and phosphates before they can convert.
You can get in-sump skimmers, or put a hang on skimmer on your sump if it'll fit, to save from clutter inside teh tank. However, my CPR hang on skimmer takes up less space in my tank than the 2 MJ1200 powerheads.

The two would complment eachother greatly. The sump would give you a place for your skimmer, an easy way to do water changes, a place to hide your heater as well as a method of increasing the overall water flow in your tank with out the need to put many powerheads in the tank itself.

The AquaC Remora is one of the better skimmers for smaller sized tanks.
