skimmer placement

i have a 55 gal (fish only for now) with a 20 gal amiricle 3000 wet/dry sump. i made the 1st section coming from tank into a refugium, liverock in 2nd section and heater/rio 2500 in the return section. i have a protein skimmer that can hang on back or submersed. i was getting a lot of micro bubbles in my tank so i put PS in sump(on refugium side) is this wrong? i think its defeating the purpose of a fuge? HELP!!

Just put it in the second section, it'll be fine. My skimmers have caused bubbles and splashing issues, even in the sump. I put panty hose on the return of them to solve the issue.
