sounds like a plan to me then!

So more good news! I got a new hose and I got my RO/DI unit putting out water at 8-10 ppm and i'm running about a 1:1.5 ratio the waste water is coming out at 265ppm so i'm going to toss that and do about half RO/DI and half tap water (tested at 150 ppm) for the initial fill. after that it is all RO/DI for PWCs and top offs.

How does this sound?

You're gonna have to run it til it tests 0! Then you can use it. Otherwise you will just be adding phosphates and other chemicals

i'll have to find somewhere to buy the water then. The 15 i'm getting is with brand new filters and diaphram, i can't get it any lower. Our water is coming out of our hose initially at 375 and there is no way I can hook it up to the system inside.

That stinks :/, 18 ppm is going to give you some big issues though. Sniperhank had an issue with algae and he found out his tds was close to 20 I believe.

Just out of curiosity, go buy a gallon of purified water and test it. Maybe your tds meter is off???

I thought about that as well last night. I'm going to be buying some and testing it this afternoon so I'll let you know how it turns out.

My TDS was off by quite a bit. By 10-12!

When i eventually add fish to the tank i was thinking a Yellow Clown Goby and a Flametail Blenny. What do you think?

As i'm about to go to bed i get this feeling i should check on the water thats mixing in the garage so i go out there and my 45g trashcan is on the verge of collapsing on itself! Long story short, i now have about 40g of water circulating in the tank. Luckily all of the salt had disolved and the water was nice and clear so i can fix any issues that come up with the salinity pretty easily i think.

Man am i glad i checked on the water!
