I know some are for and some against snails as whether they do anything to the overall bio of the tank, yes/or no I have small kids and are looking for life to put in other than just fish. Does anyone prefer one over the other? Does one do more than the other, etc.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Nerite have been the most hardy in my system. Overall, everything else has eventually died off even with a ton to eat. Though you won't get the best activity out of snails in general, if your kids want to watch them I think they would be best. They normally stay on the glass, don't get too large but aren't small, and have pretty colorful shells.

The nerites also seem to be a bit more active , I still have some nassarius snail and bunch of ceriths but they just seem to be boring , could try a few scarlett hermits I find mine always active
