Not such a good week for the tank. The birds nest, chalice, war favia all have major tissue recession. Not currently sure why, prime suspect is usually alk. The double water change might have done it...though it might be a stretch in thinking this issue through. Frustrating none the less.

So today I decided to change the 'mode' my Radions are in. Exported what I was using and am now using a 'deep ocean' ramp on the tank. Simple bell curve and quite blue except for at the peek. Hoping to see better colors out of the tank, believing that the issues with color is simply out of my constant fiddling with the light.
When it comes to the sun coral, I moved it today. Half of it opened up last night and it was fed. What didn't open was next to the symphodium that fragged itself off the mother colony much higher up from the sand bed.
The symphodium's color hasn't been 'popping' like it was. I'm believing it is because I dumped the green out of the lights. That said, the same might be what is going on with the long tentacle anemone rather than bleaching like I originally believed. I'll continue to monitor.

it's been a few weeks, but I'm not sure how long a lighting change would take to affect the corals.

The lighting change wouldn't have caused the birds nest to strip flesh off the skeleton like that.

So what is your current Alk reading now and what was your normal everyday reading ?

No clue, had to leave for work when I noticed. Noticed way too late...

What is interesting that the corals that were effected were all ones that were shipped when I bought them online. The ones that came from brick and mortars show no sign of issues...

Years ago I changed out halide bulbs and 2 weeks later the corals started bleaching. It's not instant. That said, nothing lost flesh....things just bleached and closed up.

Besides the birds nest, which is gone at this point, nothing has lost color. They are exactly how I'd expect them to be, expect where the flesh has peeled off.

I'm no pro but when my chalice and lobo started to recede flesh I found out my calcium and alk were extremely low. Since I started dosing my chalice is making a come back, but my lobo is not showing as much promise. Good luck! I know you will give it every effort you can to save them.

No, this was from a spike in phosphates. Went up to .55. GFO changed out, hopefully won't cake up this time.

I had a long time ago and didn't get past a week of doing it. It isn't necessary on the system though. This is a very simple problem, skimmer stopped skimming again + increased feeding + GFO caking up and being close to needing replaced anyway + ATS not as established as the replaced rednecked unit.

Quick unrelated update. I've been without power for almost 4 hours. Vortech still going strong in power saver off the battery backup. Level of content is high through significant boredom.
