Something is wrong.

So I get home today expecting to see my corals in happy health and everything fine as usual and my Duncan, hammer coral and mushrooms don't look very happy. My polyps and Kenyan tree look normal...

Params

82 degrees (got warm today)
Amm - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - >5
Phosphate - 0

I haven't tested ca and dkh yet cause I just put my supplement in. I use bionic ca buffer system.

Only changes lately is I added my sump into the mix and took my crappy hob filter out cause apparently the cheap carbon was filtering out my supplements? (lfs knowledge)

Last time I checked ca and dkh it was

ca 420-440 and dkh 9

Any ideas?

Haw you fed them recently? How unhappy? Do you think the change in temp has shocked them a bit?

The temp is the only thing I can think of. No haven't fed them today. My hammer coral is always out and it's all the way sucked in I don't understand. I recently switched to a 175w MH from PC lighting. But it's been about a week and they looked really happy up until today...

it has been demonstrated that a 2 degree increase in temperature can kill an entire reef in just two weeks. I would guess that is the source of their distress. This last month I had to dial down my heater because ambient temp was so high, I hit 82, and a lot of corals looked pissed.

Hopefully that's what it is. I also think I had my light to close to the water. Was about 5-6 inches. I raised it to 8 to see if it makes a difference. It's been on there for about a week though and everything looked happy until today...

Get the temp down to 79 and see how things look. Also, get a ph test. It's fairly important.
