Cycle your salt tank
does it say anything about removing the shrimp in that article...nope, because your tank needs a contiual supply of ammonia or once the cycle starts it will use up that ammonia and possibly have no more before your cycle has finished, which is precisely where this tank is currently. There was a time when ammonia was present and it had the proper bacteria living in it, but no longer because the food source for that bacteria has been removed from the cycle.
Yes it can be kept in a mesh bag for removal once the cycle is complete, but not just because ammonia hits 3.0, which isn't a very strong cycle to begin with.

I've cycled a tank with shrimp. Besides, I've never heard of anyone leaving the shrimp in there until you.

Once the cycle readings get up and back to zero on the ammonia and nitrite, it's usually recommend that folks add another ammonia source, true. But not leaving the shrimp. If you don't begin adding livestock for an ammonia source, some add a pinch of food from time to time.

But do not leave the shrimp in there IMO. Good article still.
